Derry to Donore

After a night out at "The Garage" another 30% off meals and drinks we checked out and did a taxi tour with Dermott, a local very passionate about Northern Ireland and in particular, Derry.  He drove us around explaining the history of the city, the trials and tribulations and showed us the murals from the freedom fighters, memorials to lives lost and gave us an insight into life in Derry today.  Sobering stuff to say the least.  After the one hour tour we drove to Belfast.  Parked at Central Station and walked into the city centre and noticed a lot of redevelopment had gone on in the last 4 years.  Passing by the awesome markets, so decided to check those out and have lunch there.  We also bought Belfast made sovenirs, as well as a mocha and cuppa....this was later to be my undoing!?  Carried on into city centre, finding the amazing eclectic Crown Bar and Fibber MacGhees.  On the way back to the car, called into a corner store and bought some soothers and found that my 10 pund note was a fake!?   Over here they have an invisable ink pen that checks all the bills and mine was FAKE?!  After the shop attendant had written "fake" across it, I asked could I keep it, No, no it is illegal tender and we have to hand it in...meanwhile at the back of the store 2 police officers had walked in, dressed in their bullet proof vests, while their van was parked outside with the driver, guarding the back of it!  O dear, cut my losses and be out of here.....We carried on to collect the car and find the Titanica Museum, with Ross moaning all the way about being ripped off...at this point Karma stepped in and we were told, there is only one hour to go so it is free entry!  So there you go!  Great museum also with the Land, See, Sky exhibits as well.In the 5 o'clock traffic it took Ross driving, Les navigating and 2 back seat drivers to negoiate our way out of the area and onto the highway bound for Dublin.  Finally found our accommodation in Donore, a wee town in the middle of nowhere, though only 20 minutes from Dublin Airport....Unfortunately their internet went down and they had lost our booking, so one room only was available and Ross and I were shipped off down the road to a B & B.  Drinks and dinner at the inn found us to be in the middle of a 21st party so after a very substantial dinner, we were then presented with plates of sandwiches, chicken nibbles, sausages and wedges for supper....Left while we were able, our last night in Ireland.
