Ross and Les finally arrived at the hotel, about 8.30pm...not bad for a flight that was due at 2.40pm - it is Ireland after all.
Wendy and I had a very interesting taxi driver who went out of his way to find our Hotel....he said he didn't want to drop us off just anywhere looking like a couple of eejits! Wendy had never heard that saying and it tickled her fancy....We assured him that there had been a few times through our trip that we had indeed looked like a couple of eejits - particularly biking around Dam square....Had a good laugh and he was helpful and kind, warning us of the beggars - some of who have been deported after authorities finding out they had been working here for a month and earned in excessive of 36,000 euro! Not bad for one month of "work".
Had a wander through O'Connell Street, Temple Bar area and found the designer clothing market, food and book markets.
Found a handy hotel for a drink and evening meal, just down the road from our accommodation and that's where the guys found us at 8.30pm....
Les described the days as their "Amazing Race": They finally got to Dublin airport at 6.20pm, not knowing where they were booked, but then went through their luggage and realised they had the hotel name, but incorrect address, the bus drove straight passed them, so jumped in a taxi that dropped them in Gardiner Street, instead of Gardiner Place, a helpful local finally phoned the hotel for them and pointed them in the right direction....meanwhile my cell phone was out of action - something to do with Telecom's prepaid customers....of all days!?
Lots of stories and laughs when they finally found us, straining to hear over the live irish music playing on the small stage...very lively. All enjoyed a hearty meal - weather cooling down and the forecast for Sunday is shite, according to the locals.....
